February Sucks

I can’t concentrate on anything right now; I am so bored that my mind is wandering all over the planet. So in the past five minutes I have been able to contemplate going away for a weekend, looking at my homework, our summer vacation, the news, porn, the NY Post, reading my email, and eating a piece of candy while thinking of how I really need to get away because right now I’m just bored, bored, bored.

Must be a February thing, I hate February we need to have a year with 11 months. No more February, my vote counts. Although, that wouldn’t be so good as that would increase my years too quickly. Instead have a year with 13 months and all of them can be June, I love June. Everybody loves June. Lovers get married in June, the flowers are blooming in June, The birds and the bees are getting it on in June, June has it going on.

But February, it sucks. So far this whole place has been nothing but various shades of gray; light gray, medium gray, dark gray, gray with a titch of snow, gray with a bit of rain, gray-blue, gray-white, gray-yuck. Now I thought May Gray and June Gloom were bad in California but holy moly this really sucks; at least California was two months, here is one short month that feels like it’s stretching to two months.

After all the complaining and being bored has really made me feel sleepy, thank goodness it’s gray out I can sleep so much better.

And now a word of wisdom.

“We do not inherit the world from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”

We had a very nice Valentines Day. We went to the gym and while Mike was exercising Nicky and I went to the pool where he met up with some of his friends and played with them for a while; my job was to make sure he didn’t drown and to yap it up with the parents. After that we went to a lovely five-star restaurant, one that Nicholas’ sophisticated taste thoroughly recommends, Applebee’s; what were you expecting The Prada or The Plaza? The kid loves this place, I don’t know why but he does.

After that we took in a matinee to see “Hotel for Dogs,” It was cute and he loved the dogs especially Juliet. At the end of the movie Juliet and another dog were tongue kissing; those dirty dogs. Nick turns to me and says “awww they’re in love.” It was cute to see him say it as though he was cupid himself.

Of course after the movie he was hungry, again because the two bags of gummi snacks and the honkin’ huge bag of popcorn and soda in the theatre wasn’t enough so we had to stop off for a happy meal on the way home when he was wailing in the back seat “I’m soooooooo hungry, I’m soooooooo hungry, I’m soooooooo very hungry” yep we got the hint French fry boy; ba da da dad a I’m lovin’ it. It was a really great day but I have to say Nicky is anything but a cheap date.

Mike was on furlough this past Friday and yesterday, he has to take three more days before the end of March. Appears to be the way to go, a lot of people complain about having to do it but in our opinion it sure beats layoffs. I decided I would take a day off with him on Friday. We had a good time; went to the gym in the morning when we dropped Nick off at school, it’s all in the same building so that made life easy. After that we just drove around, went shopping and just enjoyed each others company all day.

So far this February seems to be moving along, not quickly enough for my taste, but all the same it is moving. We both are very anxious for spring to arrive; we’ve been here for two years and still can’t seem to get use to the cold weather. We decided we would reevaluate our lives here in another five years and see what happens.

In the meantime we are making vacation plans for the end of June. So far we are leaning towards South Florida, maybe California not 100% sure yet it depends where we can get the best deal for four of us.

Oh and the best news of all we finally got Nick a new bed and have it all set up. We picked it up last Tuesday evening, we brought both SUV’s however we thought it would have to be put together and were very surprised that it came preassembled in five enormous boxes. After configuring and reconfiguring the arrangement in the vehicles we got it home and all set up. It’s a twin bed, with a large bookshelf headboard and drawers underneath. He and Piggy absolutely love it, she sleeps at the foot of the bed and he sleeps at the top and the stuffed animals sleep everywhere in between.

Time for the weekend

Yeah the weekend is finally here, well almost give it another six hours when the work day ends and it will be. The temperatures on Saturday are finally, finally, finally, finally suppose to reach over 40 degrees and believe me when I say it will be such a welcome change from this crappy 5 degrees that we have been enduring. It will be time to break out the shorts to go with the sweatshirts.

We will probably continue our insane hunt for a bed for Nick’s room on Saturday. There is so much pressure to buying the right bed for his room; bunk bed, loft bed, tent bed, theme bed, trundle bed, captain bed, twin size, full size, memory foam, forgetful foam, springs, box springs, slats, the list goes on. So this is the descision after talking with other parents and myself for hours about the subject; a plain old single bed with a headboard and footboard, nothing fancy, nothing crazy, just a bed. This will be our forth weekend going out looking for the right plain old bed now.

On Sunday Nicky is going to go to Jirel’s birthday party at Bounce it Out in Pittsford. He is a friend of his from preschool. Nicky has been looking forward to for a few weeks now and that’s all he can talk about. It’s a Spiderman theme and also a costume party, so we went out this week and of course bought him a Spiderman costume. I’m forcing Mike to go with me to this party as the childs parents have to accompanying them, I’ll make sure the iPhone is charged and to do a lot of web surfing.

Mike’s classes this semster have a heavy workflow, so I’m sure he will be spending a lot of the weekend working on homework. My classes so far aren’t so bad and for the first time in many semesters I haven’t been totally overwhelmed with school, maybe I’m just numb to the pain.

I signed up for facebook about a month ago and holy cow it is so addicting but in a good way. I have connected with a lot of people that I haven’t spoken to in a while. It’s really nice because I find it hard to find time to phone, write or visit with friends.

There is a new show on the Logo network called “RuPaul’s Drag Race” that I DVR and I’m pretty excited to be watching this weekend along with “Ugly Betty.” It will just be Mike, I, the DVR and a glass of wine…hmmmm, better make that a couple glasses.

Ciao, Adios, Au Revoir, and see ya.

Scaring Mike

I am so hooked on Project Runway that I ordered (from Netflix) season one and two, I stayed up on Friday night watching the finale of season one I was so into it that when Nick woke up (at midnight) I couldn’t tear myself away to put him back in bed so he laid next to me and watched it also; as the model is walking down the runway Nick looks and says “oh that is very pretty, I love that color blue” I almost pee’d myself and thought to myself “ME TOO” and that is when I realized Mike (and probably the world) is in trouble because Nicky is just like me.

When I got him dressed for school the other day his pants were quite tight and I told him lets change them, he says “no I really like to wear tight pants” I thought to myself “ME TOO.” That night driving home we were listening to the radio he told me to turn it up real loud because he loves loud music, I thought to myself “ME TOO.” Poor Mike he may never recover.
