January 26, 2009 - Ok I should be really embarrassed, I haven’t written a thing since mid December and I had plenty of time. School started today so this is the point in my life where I get frantic and lose my mind and complain that there are not enough hours in the day, BUT on the upswing of that note it is best to always keep learning to keep your mind fresh and alert.
The holidays were really nice we spent a lot of time with both families and of course a lot of quality time with each other which is always a wonderful thing in my opinion. Nicky was extra good this year as he is every year (again in my opinion) so of course Santa came to visit him with some extra special presents. We of course got up early as we always do on Christmas morning, this year my sister Char wanted to come over and it was a pleasure to have her over. At about 5:30 I went into Nicky’s bedroom where he and I heard a real loud “Ho, Ho, Ho.” Nick threw off the covers and ran into our room to wake up Mike and then flung the lights on and with an extremely enthusiastic scream “Santa was here.” He ran down the stairs first checked the plate and saw that the cookies and carrots were all gone “Santa ate the cookies and Rudolph ate the carrots” ran to the living room and screamed “WOW,” jumped up and down and again kept yelling “Santa was here, Santa was here, …” I’m going to assume he was very happy, which in turn made us quite happy to see him be so excited.
We spent most of the day at home, Mikes family came over Around noon for dinner and to exchange presents, which was really enjoyable to have them all over our house for the holiday. About 6PM we went over to my moms house and enjoyed the merry making with them and also exchange presents. It was a great day all around and Nick was very happy to be playing with all his new toys, I think his favorite toys were the matchbox race tracks and cars that he got. Nicky had asked for a huge green water gun for Christmas this year and Santa brought him a really cool backpack water sprayer and he was happy with the blue even though he asked for green.
We had a holiday party at our house about a week before Christmas with my family over and that turned out to be a really nice time and relaxing or at least I thought it was. It felt nice to finally invite people over to our house as the last one was rather too small and of course we had ‘Smokey and Chokey’ living below us. Speaking of which we sold that horrible house and the tenants went with it, we closed on it New Years Eve and feel like there has been such a weight lifted off of us.
On New Years Eve Bob came over and we rang in the New Year together, it’s funny that Nicky has such a good memory we don’t get to see Bob too often but when we do Nicky is totally drawn to him, if only we can get Bob to babysit. I kind of vowed this year to be better at staying in touch with friends as I haven’t been so good at it in the past, one good way so far is a friend of mine talked me into joining Facebook which I did and I have to say I absolutely love it and think its the best thing ever.
I’m sure there are some stories that I am missing out on but will sprinkle them in as time goes by. Happy New Year…almost one month too late.
