November 12, 2008 - Holy cow it has been a while since I last wrote, I didn’t realize it had been 2 ½ months. School has been anything but a pleasure this semester I just finished classes which would explain why I haven’t written in the last 10 weeks. I took two accelerated classes this semester; Java Programming and Micro Economics and yes my brain is totally numb after all that. But I just handed in my last final exam this past Friday night and what a sigh of relief that was.

Mike of course was the smart one and took one class that wasn’t accelerated his class was quite easy to keep up with. He made the smart move considering we were selling and buying and moving and packing plus god knows what else, he wasn’t as stressed as I was…well maybe he was.

Well I know in the last letter I said that we had a buyer for our house but there were problems with their approval so the deal did fall through and we still own the house. However we had continued our search for a house just the same and found a great house in the area of town that we had wanted. We closed on it October 17th and finished moving in October 24th, we’re pretty well all unpacked and situated, of course now comes the moment of trying to figure out where we put things.

The house is really nice; three bedrooms, 1 ½ baths, living room, dining room, family room, den, two car garage and a large yard that is totally landscaped with a large variety of flowering trees and bushes. I really wanted a small yard but when I saw that the landscaping was so pretty I was sold on it. Mike was sold on the size of the house as we would no longer have to bump into each other. Plus Nicky gets a play room.

The new house is in Brighton and we wanted this part of town because their school district was rated top in the country and everyone we spoke to had nothing but raves about it. The neighborhood is really great the neighbors have come over to introduce themselves to us and offered to lend a hand if we needed, it’s great! We really wanted a community and that’s what we got. There are tons of restaurants, shopping, and playgrounds nearby. We’ve been for walks around the area after dinner and checking things out…totally lovin’ it.

We still have the other house up for sale and we will probably take it off the market in a couple weeks and put it back up in the spring if it doesn’t sell beforehand. We advertised our apartment for rent and it will be occupied as of December 1st so that put our mind at ease.

With Mike working third shift, and being in a new house I hear every noise that there is and of course Nicky does as well and was scared to go to bed the first couple nights so with it being Fall and the rain starts and stops and the winds kick up it gets a bit unnerving, Piggy is the only one that seems to be sleeping, everywhere she can.

Nick has started to get into the habit of sneaking in bed with me when he wakes up in the middle of the night, normally around 5:30AM, some mornings he’ll come in to tell me he can’t sleep, that surely isn’t a problem I have at that hour, so needless to say he and I and sometimes Piggy all share my pillow.

For Halloween Nicky told me he wanted to be a ghost so I decided to make his costume, I was going to get a bunch of gauze and shred it and sew it to a sheet (or pillow case) and use bridal veil to cover his head. I was trying to be more creative than the time I was a ghost and used an old sheet…I don’t know how Martha Stewart does it, oh wait yes I do, she has people do it for her; if only I could be Martha.

So a few days before Halloween I went to Joann Fabrics and got a few different yards of material and two days before started to make his costume. Something happened between the idea in my head and the actual costume, it looked horrible. It didn’t help that Nicky wouldn’t keep still and kept wiggling and running all over the house while I was trying to make it. So I had Mike help me and together we did a much better job. He wanted to be a scary ghost and that’s he was. As soon as we upload the pictures I’ll post them…next year we will buy a costume.

Both our jobs have gone through layoffs the last couple months and both of us have been spared, something is watching out for us. Unfortunately with the way the way the economy sucks these days I can’t say the same thing about my 401k, that wasn’t spared but I know I’m in the same boat with a ton of people on that one.

Nicky seems to really enjoy preschool and comes home pretty much everyday with something new. When we read at night he’ll ask what a word is and how to spell it, he is recognizing his letters and numbers. We’ve also been teaching him how to spell his name. We couldn’t be any prouder of him…I’m sure we could.

Funny story a few weeks back Mike was looking for his chap stick and there was Nicky sitting on the living room floor with Piggy smearing it all over her lips; he takes such good care of that dog.

I’m sure there are a few other things that have happened since September 1st, but can’t think of a one. Oh except congratulations to Carl and Sherry who are engaged!!!! Toodles for now.
